Join us for an evening with Ibrahima Sow, a nomad who is with us here because of the political nature of his music in his home of Mauritania, accompanied by Guatama Mehta
Opening is K8A: Impressions of Ethiopia for violin & electronics
This is a collection of musical vignettes by fiddle player Kaethe Hostetter. Sourcing from her eleven years living in Addis Ababa, she transports you with her sounds and story telling to the bustling streets of the East African metropolis, evoking the crackling sounds of a saxophone blaring out of a barbershop radio, a shepherd's flute melody turned dub reggae, a beam of light shafting through a thousand year old church, the fervent dancing on packed dirt floors of a rural honey-wine bar, and the funky big band psychedelic sounds of Ethiopia's "Golden Era"
