Film Screening: Cultural Capital

The documentary CULTURAL CAPITAL interrogates New York City’s status as an “art capital,” tracing the shift from experimental practices to a market dominated industry. Through artists and critics, it examines how artistic production is entangled with economic power and urban transformation, revealing a struggle over whether art can still challenge the forces reshaping the city. Filmmaker Malcolm Hearn will be present for Q&A.

Save Prosfygika: Film Screening, Discussion and Outreach

Come watch a few documentary shorts about the Community of Squatted Prosfygika and participate in group discussions on the potential for international solidarity in our local communities.

The Community has existed for 16 years and is made up of more than 400 residents, including 50 children. Many are refugees and migrants: residents come from 27 different nationalities, speaking 20 different languages.

In this time, the Community has flourished and survived several eviction attempts, in the process turning this small quarter of Athens into a hub for revolutionary internationalism and collective life. Today this fabric of solidarity and communal life is under serious threat. Let’s stand in solidarity with them and all communities in struggle!

Now two comrades are on hunger strike unto death in defense of life, the life of the Community. We are with them as they struggle to the end.

[MASKS REQUIRED AND PROVIDED]

Chronic conditions involving the reproductive system are too often under-diagnosed, dismissed, and not properly addressed by the Medical Industrial Complex. We are creating this space for people to gather, share experiences, share resources, & support one another. This space is open for all bodies and gender identities.

This conversation will be facilitated by Frieda, a Brooklyn-based Midwife and Reproductive Health Nurse Practitioner.

P.I.T. Care Collective are health workers building a vision toward a Healing Commons beyond institutional logic and boundaries.
